Impactt Limited is a London-based ethical trading consultancy.  We work with companies, governments, NGOs and investors to develop business practices which maximize the benefits to people affected by international trade.  We have helped improve supply chain labour conditions in 24 countries around the world.  We believe in robust, pragmatic and sustainable solutions to build values into business and benefit workers.  We are recruiting a Project Manager to join our team in Guangzhou: 

Post Location: Guangzhou, Guangdong province, PRC.

Job duties

The Project Manager will be responsible for all aspects of project management, including, but not limited to:

  • Organising and managing projects on a daily basis
  • Supporting and developing other team members
  • Coordinating and conducting factory assessments and consultancy programs to improve factory management and raise awareness of labour standards
  • Facilitating capacity building projects on supply-chain labour standards for workers, factories and international companies
  • Developing materials, guidelines and tools for various projects
  • Compiling reports and liaising with clients
  • Serving as an expert internal resource working collaboratively to strengthen project quality and develop staff
  • Providing other assistance as required to ensure effective implementation of projects
  • Liaising with our UK, Hong Kong offices and local partners
  • The postholder will be required to travel frequently within China and on occasion overseas
     

Person Specification

- Essential Desirable
Experience
  • Project management experience
  • Report writing in English and Chinese
  • Experience in productivity management
  • Factory production processes
  • Industrial engineering
  • Production experience in garments, toys or other consumer products
  • Understanding of improving working conditions for workers/ Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Managing a small team and/or multi-stakeholder projects
  • Proven knowledge of labour standards and factory management issues
  • Experience in garment/knitting factories
  • Supply chain experience
Skills & Knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good command of spoken English
  • Good spoken Putonghua, fluency in written and spoken Chinese and written English is a must.
  • Attention to detail
  • Good computer skills ie Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Active interest in ethical issues
  • Concise report writing
  • Writing and delivering training
  • Workshops with factory managers

Education level
  • A university degree with at least two years’ experience working in an organisation in a project management role or with project management experience
  • Productivity training
  • Working in factories, or working with factories to improve their internal management systems.
Location
  • Based in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, PRC
  • Will be required to travel frequently in China
