Training and skills development
Everyone involved needs to be aware, motivated and equipped to play their role
Effective implementation of ethical trading programmes requires all actors to be aware of their role and equipped to carry it out. Impactt develops bespoke training programmes for commercial teams, factory managers, workers and service providers. We believe that getting everyone “on message” is an essential element of achieving improvements in labour practice.Examples include:
- Awareness-raising seminars for buyers and technologists to build their understanding of ethical trading issues and realise the impact their decisions and actions can have on labour standards in the supply chain
- Auditing training, for internal teams including both ‘classroom’ training sessions and practical training during ‘shadow audits’, in which the trainees witness and participate in an audit carried out by Impactt. The aim is to develop skills in visual inspections, tackling sensitive issues with managers, working with local worker interviewers and how to spot and understand double books.
- Ethical trading seminars for suppliers, to build awareness of ethical trading issues and the client’s standars, an explanation of the issues and how to practically tackle them. The session can support them to draw up an action plan for their own business.
- Focused training courses for factory managers on how to tackle a particular issue such as reducing worker turnover, improving health and safety or reducing excessive overtime.
- In-factory consultancy and training to help factory/site managers at individual sites to prioritise issues and find simple, affordable solutions appropriate to their business situation.
Impactt has developed and delivered training courses for WHSmith, Tesco, New Look, John Lewis Partnership, Nautica and Debenhams. If you want to find out more about potential training courses that could support your programme, or to discuss your company’s situation and needs please email info@impacttlimited.com or call us on +44 (0) 207 242 6777.
